Introducing the Department of Management Information Systems (DMIS)
The Department of Management Information Systems (DMIS), was established in April. 12. 2005 with Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Choudhury as the founder Chairman when the faculty decided to have an independent department to cater to the needs of the business community and other social system. The first batch of the students was in fact the students of 5th batch of the department of Management Studies. The Department of MIS is empowered to provide teaching for the degree of BBA and MBA. M. Phil, as well as Ph.D. as per rules and regulations of the University of Dhaka. It also organizes special programs, conferences, seminars and short courses. The Department now looks towards fundamentally changing the teaching-learning methods in an endeavor to cope with the changing demands for job-oriented business education and to enable the graduates of the Department to face the challenges in the competitive world of the new millennium.
Location of DMIS
The Department of Management Information Systems is yet located in the old Business Studies Building, situated in a serene natural environment enriched with hundreds of green trees. It is within yards from the Arts Building. Modhur Canteen, the University Jama Masque, International Hostel, the Administrative Building. British Council, and major student dormitories such as Jagannath Hall, Surja Sen Hall. Mohsin Hall. Zia Hall, Bsngabandhu Hall, Jasimddin Hall, Zahurul Haq Hall, Salimullah Hall. Rokeya Hall and Shamsunnahar Hall. The Central Library of Dhaka University is just five minutes’ walk. The important public places in close proximity to the DMIS are National Museum. Bangabandhu Medical University, Suhrawardy Udyan, Supreme Court of Bangladesh,. Dhaka Medical College. BUET and such shopping complexes as New Market and Elephant Road-based numerous shopping centers. Our location is well connected with the central railway station, bus terminals, inland water terminals of Buriganga river and the Zia International Airport.
Vision and Mission of DMIS
The vision of the Department of Management Information Systems is to produce knowledge from information and to become the best MIS institution in the global village. Our mission statement is: “To help students equip with professional knowledge and skills to face the challenges of the information technology.”
Academic programs at presents consist of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Regular Master of Business Administration (MBA), Evening Master of Business Administration (EMBA), Master of Philosophy (M. Phil.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).
