1.BBA Program

The four year BBA program with major in Accounting and Information Systems is a prestigious degree. The University has been offering this degree since the 1994-95 academic session. The program comprises of 120 credit hours spread over eight semesters. It is an internationally recognized program for grooming professionals, business executives, entrepreneurs and academics in the relevant area seeking to expand their intellectual horizon and improve their management skills and competence. The program is rigorous, with an emphasis on practical applications and skills for immediate use, which offers students a comprehensive education in all major facets of business.

2. MBA Program (Regular)

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) with major in four special areas of Accounting in the Faculty of Business Studies (FBS) is a full-time 48 credit hour professional program. The program is designed to meet the needs of the students who want to develop their career either as professional executives or entrepreneurs in the fields of different business areas as well as teaching and research positions in different institutions. Rules and regulations are designed within the general framework of the Dhaka University regulations. Students of the program has to complete 14 semester courses, each carrying 3 semester credit hours and a three – months internship in a recognized business organization weighing 6 credit hours to get the MBA degree. Only 4-year BBA graduates in Accounting of the University of Dhaka are eligible to get admission into this MBA program in the Department of Accounting and Information Systems.

3. MBA (Evening) PROGRAM

In view of the growing demand for business graduates, there is a need for creating more opportunities for higher studies in business for the existing executives as well as for the potential entrants. The Department of Accounting and Information Systems has created such opportunities through offering a new business graduate program leading to the degree of Master in Business Administration (MBA) in the evening session.

The MBA degree has become a widely accepted qualification for business executives with an international recognition. A majority of employers view the degree as a passport to strategic decision-making positions. The MBA in Accounting program prepares students to assume responsible positions as leaders and team members in the national and multi-national business organizations of the twenty-first century competing in the world market.

The program has been designed with the following objectives in mind: accountability, adaptability, creative thinking, teamwork, communication, and accounting expertise. In designing the program the needs and demands of the students from a variety of educational, managerial and professional backgrounds have been taken into active considerations. The MBA in Accounting will equip the participants with all qualities necessary to provide practical, innovative, flexible and workable solutions to a wide range of business problems faced in the present complex situation.
